Bella Sue

About two years ago, I contacted WCWR about adopting a Weimaraner. I was contacted by Amber and she told me about this "wonderful and handsome male named "Resig" that had been there for over a year. He had a tough life before finding WCWR to take him in and show him love. Amber said that he was a smaller Weimaraner so many didn't want to adopt him but that she knew he would just win me over if I met him. Resig, now called "Mylo" was quite the charmer and won me over instantly!!! His adorable face and sweet personality was exactly what I wanted in my life. Mylo quickly adjusted to our home and bonded very quickly with my husband and I. We discovered that Mylo loves to swim, run after tennis balls, chase squirrels, dig up your flowers in the yard and explore your kitchen trash can when you are not home. He was so lovable and oblivious to having any faults that we replaced our flower beds with mulch and got a trash can with a lock and he then became the perfect dog. Mylo has brought such joy and love into our home that we just can't imagine why anyone would've ever wanted to part with him.....but, we are glad they did.
Then one year later, my husband's career moved us to Hawaii. Mylo immediately loved paradise and discovered that the water here is very different from that in Virginia....it has waves....oh boy, how fun!!!. Before long, Mylo was swimming in the ocean, rolling around in the sand and lounging out in the sun working on his tan. This spring, my husband and I decided that Mylo could use a sister to play with......why enjoy paradise all alone, right? So, we immediately decided that we would contact Amber at WCWR since we had such a great experience with her and the rescue. I wanted a female that would be a perfect match for Mylo since he liked to be "top dog" in the house. Amber had a great choice in mind and she suggested a dog named "Bella Sue". I was told that she was very sweet and just an "angel". Well, Hawaii has strict laws about allowing dogs to enter the state so we had to wait 4 months to get her home to us. Luckily, the Gray family in Chantilly, VA was willing to foster her for us. When Bella Sue arrived to her foster home, she was very skinny and she didn't like men very much. The Gray family nursed her to a healthy weight and gave her so much love that she is no longer afraid of men....yeah!! My husband and I decided to name her something that had a Hawaiian twist to it......we looked up many different Hawaiian words and then I remembered Amber saying she was an angel. As fate would have it, the Hawaiian word for "angel" is "anella". We decided to shorten it to "Nella" and lucky for us it rhymed with Bella.
When the big meeting date arrived, I was nervous about how they would get along. However, it was love at first sight!!!! Nella literally went belly up over him. When we took the long flight back to Hawaii, Mylo was excited to show his house to Nella and they spent the first day playing non-stop. Mylo and Nella sleep, eat, play and they even walk side by side on their leashes together....they are inseparable. In the morning, when they wake up, Mylo loves to give her a morning kiss....he is such a flirt. Nella, our angel, has settled in nicely and discovered that water isn't so bad after all. She isn't as brave as her brother is, but she will get her feet wet now with some encouragement from her brother. Pretty soon, they will both be enjoying the Pacific Ocean together. The Hawaiian name suits her personality perfectly too....we quickly noticed that when Nella gets excited she spins around in circles and shakes her behind......she looks like she is doing the Hula!!!! They both love sporting their Hawaiian leis to show off their spirit of Aloha.
We are forever grateful to WCWR for bringing our angel, Nella, and our handsome stud, Mylo into our lives. My husband and I tell everyone looking to adopt a Weimaraner about this rescue. Mylo and Nella have had an interesting journey......Two loving weimaraners from broken homes in Tennessee were brought together by WCWR and now live in paradise....definitely what they deserve. Lucky for us they did......they now have a forever home and we have found forever love.

Weim Lovers Forever,
Danielle and Matt Marks

Whiskey has been under Holly's care at All Dogs for over a year. Although it was a happy day for Whiskey - it was tears of joy that fell from Holly's eyes to see him finally find his forever home.

A note from Holly:

Whiskey with his new family! He was so happy yesterday- it was so exciting & heartbreaking at the same time!

Walter

Update: 4/20/10

Just wanted to give you a quick update on how Walter is doing. We just adore
him. He is a great dog and perfect match for our family. He is down to 88
pounds at last weigh in. Great health. He does not have thyroid issues like
previously suspected but has skin allergies which is improving. He loves
going on car rides, walks/runs and being with his people. His personality
has really come out since we have had him in our home. Poor guy did not know
what to think leaving TN and coming to Dayton where we had snow on the
ground for like 3 weeks. He loves this warmer weather much better but
then... who doesn't?

Please forward to Holly at All Dogs since I don't have her email.

Thanks to all of you for your help and placing Walter with us!

Robyn

PS. We are even taking him on vacation with us this summer to Emerald Isle
Beach. Officially we are dog people since securing a beach house which
accepts dogs was a requirement!

Hi,

I just thought I would let you know that VanGogh is doing great. My grandson loves him and VanGogh tolerates his hugs and laying on him. He is very good at letting me know when he wants out and he comes when he is called. I take him with me whenever I can, now that the weather has cooled off. He still isn't walking on a leash very well. We need a little --(lot) more work on that. Everyone in my family love him and he seems to be happy.

Thanks for putting us together,

Trooper

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank you all for your help in adopting Trooper. He is doing great and is adjusting very well to his new home. We took him to our vet on Monday after we got him home & he had an ear infection. He went for his follow-up today and got a clean bill of health - plus he has gained weight over the past week.

Trooper is very sweet and everyone that has met him so far loves him already. Shadow has gotten attached to him and runs around looking for him if they are separated for whatever reason.

I attached some pictures for you - thanks again for allowing him into our lives!

Hello from the Hardys! We wanted you to know that Smoke is doing great! He has adjusted to being the only dog as we lost our Jas last January due to old age (14 years old). He loves to walk, run, chase birds and catch lizards! You can always find him snuggled up on one of our beds especially since it has been cooler. He truely is the perfect dog and remains laid back and very friendly. He stays active each day by running in our back yard during the day as well walks with us. He really likes the pond and river so we try to get him there often. He has been a blessing to our family and brings joy to us each day! Please know that we appreciate what you all do for families like ours. We will send more updated photos!
Fondly,
Tha Hardy's

We ended up falling for Skylar and him for us- he kept sitting on top of me during our play session. So far things are going well. I am sending you an email that we sent to our family so that you can see some of the pictures of us together. We have been having a lot of fun and are working on walking and general behavior. He is SO well trained. We wanted to thank you and her for keeping him in such a great environment and allowing us to adopt such a great weim. We went to a dog park yesterday and he LOVED it. It is clear that he is well socialized and gentle around humans. Skylar was so tuckered out last night he barely kept his eyes open. It was hilarious.

Thank you!! Christy & Wyatt Tenhaeff

January 2010:

Thought you all might enjoy a few pictures of Skylar in the snow!

I wanted to write and give you a quick update about Stella and send some photos. Since we last emailed, she's been doing wonderfully! When we go to the dog park, she's the fastest dog by far. She runs up to the other dogs and begs to be chased! Overall, she's doing great and we're extremely happy! As you can see, we've also converted her to a Pittsburgh Penguins fan (Scott's hometown hockey team). Her favorite part of the games is wedging herself between Scott and I on the couch and cuddling as we watch! ~ Jennifer Madden

Saddei

Hey Julie! Life is great with the kids. Saddei has adjusted great to her new home...she is bullied by her big brother from time to time, but she stands her ground well. They are each other's shadow when I am still and my shadows when I am on the move. They still sleep together, preferably on my bed, but still in their crate most of the time. They enjoy the animal planet while in the crate together. Saddei is still a little camera shy so I don't have many good pictures, but I will attach a few.

Kelly

Hey Julie! The kids are doing well~~ they are still working out a few issues but they are bonding well I think. They are already sleeping together in the same crate and playing fairly well together. She is the sweetest dog! I'll keep ya posted but so far so good...

Rylee

Rylee - adopted by Kevin & Michelle Bennett

Rylee was rescued from Johnson City/Washington county animal shelter. Rylee was surrendered by his previous owner and due to health issues, his owner was unable to care for him. Julie Guinn received the call from the animal shelter about the weim.

Kevin & Michelle Bennett had been through WCWR's adoption process in May 08, but was unable to find a weim that fit their family. With the Bennett's still in mind and a great home for a weimaraner, I called Kevin & Michelle about Rylee. Kevin & Michelle visited Rylee at the shelter. They were convinced that Rylee was "the one". The next day, we met at Camp Ruff N More, where Rylee spent the night, where he met his new sister Bella (weim) and his brother Chase (daschund). It was a great match. They all got along so well and Chase let the weims know up front HE WAS IN CHARGE! Thanks Kevin & Michelle for giving Rylee the home he deserves.

Rosi

I often check back on the webpage and organization that helped me find my wonderful dog, Rosi. I adopted Rosi from WC last August and wanted to tell you how fantastic she really is. I used to live in Knoxville and purchased a Weimaraner from a breeder about 9 years ago. His name was Oliver and he became very sick about this time last year and after much medical care it was not possible to save him. I made the tough decision to end the life of my beloved companion of 8 years. I immediately knew I wanted another Grey Ghost. After a few weeks of grieving my house was so very very quiet with no fuzzy face to follow me around. After searching in my current state of NC and not finding a dog that would fit my needs I found your wonderful site. I visited both kennels to see if one of the dogs would “click” and immediately I was drawn to Rosi. I believe she had been at the Wolf Creek Kennel for about a year so she was due a home. It took both of us a few months to find our rhythm and she was a little hesitant to begin with but now she is a huggable, lovable girl with a constant smile on her face. She has impeccable manners in the house, love kids, other dogs and has grown to love all the hugs and kisses that she was not comfortable with before. She lives the life of luxury. Has full reign of the house, couch and fuzzy blankets galore. I even hired someone to take her on long runs during the week so she gets enough exercise. I wish someone would lead me on a run during work hours! I cannot thank you or the organization enough for my wonderful best friend. Rosi is truly a benefit to my life and helped me fill a hole that I thought would be hard to fill when I lost my Oliver. Thank you! Thank you! Perhaps Rosi needs a friend in the near future and you know who I am going to visit! Carrie Bay

Princess

Finally sent your some pictures. Princess is so sweet, every day is a learning experience with her, we learned that she loves water. When one of us is watering the garden she loved to be wet down with water. I use a water wand and she will just stand and let me soak her with water. Shadow wants nothing to do with it. Dick has been totally redoing the garden shed, out by the apply trees (lots of shade) and Princess just stays out there with him and watches him work. Thank you so much for Princess. Jessie

Shortly after being adopted, Princess had a play date with brother, Shadow (blue weim) and Dick & Jessie's daughters two weims. Cosmo (short nub weim) was adopted from WCWR by Cynthia & Keith (Dick & Jessie's dtr & son-in-law)

Otis (aka Chief)

Hello there. My name is Ingrid Armour, and last October my husband and I rescued Mr. Otis from you all. We lived in Atlanta and were contacted by Sherie Gorrell about adopting. We already had another weimaraner and were looking for a companion for our Cooper. Yes, the first month or two was quite hard. Otis jumped at every noise he heard and he and Cooper fought for out attention. Now, though, I don't know how we ever lived without him. He has put on more weight, adapted quite well to his surroundings, and to our surprise he and Cooper have become the best of friends. We now live in Florida and the dogs visit the beach often. I just want to thank you for what you do and for giving us Otis. He truly is special and has completed our family!

Sincerely,

Ingrid, Shea, Cooper, and Otis Armour

Mylo (aka Resig)

Hello Amber,

I adopted one of your dogs a year and a half ago. His name was Resig.....now Mylo. I am now married and Mylo lives with us in Hawaii.....you should see Mylo swim in the ocean!!!!

My husband and I would like to adopt another Weim so he will have a companion. We had a great experience through WCWR that we wanted to contact you first.

Here are some pics of Mylo at the beach and of us with him this past Christmas. He is such a water dog but is a scaredy-cat of the bigger waves. My favorite pic is of his doggy prints in the sand.

Thanks and Mylo sends kisses!!!!
Danielle & Matt Marks

Morris

This morning Gryff and I went to Jefferson City and brought home Morris. Once again, I am suprised at the very nice dogs other people cannot live with. Morris is so nice to Gryff, doesn't get jealous of others getting affection, I have had to take toys away (ones that are either too small or he can tear up too easly) and he hasn't gotten upset. He has a heart of gold. He has spent the entire day - sniffing. I am waiting for him to take his first nap. He did take one short one, if you count not being able to keep his eyes open when sitting still. We are looking forward to spending a long weekend at home getting to know each other. Thanks for everyones help
